Our April Board of Director’s meeting was unable to carry out its mission
due to a lack of a quorum. I realize that on occasion events will happen
within your busy schedules to keep you from attending. When these things
arise I request that you notify the Chamber office as soon as possible so
we may cancel or reschedule the meeting. Your notification will let those
in attendance continue on with their work schedules as opposed to sitting
around waiting and hoping a quorum will show. We have changed the Board
meeting time from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. If by 9:30 am we still don’t have
a quorum the meeting will be cancelled.
April 17th I attended the South Bay Goods Movement Focus Group. This
group was formed by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG)
to study goods movement (primarily truck and rail related issues) in the
South Bay area. The group discussed congestion, capacity and configuration
of the street systems; safety as related to trucking and rail operation on
public facilities; maintenance and upkeep of the roadways that are truck
routes. The goal of this group is to develop a
list of recommended improvement projects that can be used to acquire
funding to assist the South Bay area in improving truck and rail goods
that move in and out of the South Bay. If anyone has any concerns in
this area please pass them along either to me or the SBCCOG.
As you know our annual golf tournament was called because of rain on
April 20th. It has been rescheduled for July 20th. Hope everyone
can rearrange their schedules to come out and enjoy a round of golf with us.
