Inglewood Blackhawks Gearing Up for 2010

The Inglewood Blackhawks are gearing up for the 2010 season after finishing the 2009 season as the #2 team in the La Belle Community Football League. The Blackhawks finished off the 2009 season with a heartbreaking last second loss to the North County Cobras by the score of 25-23. The Blackhawks looked to have put the championship in the bag when (WR) Solomon Jones scored on a 52 yard reception from (QB) Reggie Haynes to put the Blackhawks up 23-22 with 2 minutes left in the game. But a bad kickoff on the ensuing play put the Cobras within striking distance which ultimately led to them going down the field and putting themselves in field goal range. The Cobras kicked the game winning field goal with: 30 left in the game. The Blackhawks look to make a major turnaround in 2010 with the acquisition of some quality assistant coaches (Coach Doug Banks) and major some major game breaking players. The Blackhawks recently signed the 2009 LCFL West Defensive Player of the Year, Deon Lafitte (Linebacker) and former University of Lehigh All-American Ronald Jean (Running Back). Both of these players will add major factoring points to the Blackhawks offense and defense. Additionally, Utility player, Rodney Connor was also voted by the league as the 2009 LCFL West Special Teams Player of the Year. Head Coach, Tony Reid will lead the Blackhawks back to the battle field with only one thing in mind, that's a National Championship. "In 2009, we were a very solid team but was unstable at times with injuries and players dealing with personal issues which kept them from the field. But in 2010, things will be much different as we are only looking to play with 40 quality players rather than the 53 man roster that is available for the season", stated Reid. We going in a new direction this year and it's either your 100% committed for the season or we can't do anything for you. The Blackhawks are currently looking for volunteers and sponsors to assist with the team for the upcoming season which kicks off on Saturday, August 14, 2010.
